College Access Web Site Creation Information

Below is information for guaranty agencies working on their state college access Web pages through Mapping Your Future. For an overview of the process guarantors will use to create or update the college access pages for the states for which they serve as the designated guarantor on the national college access web site ( and, both maintained by Mapping Your Future), click below:

Update: 02/20/07

To allow agencies to ensure that the links included on their portion of the site are working, the College Access state login now includes W3C Link Checker, a free tool provided by the World Wide Web Consortium. This tool verifies the links on the public site. The report can take up to five minutes to run. After the link checker has completed, a list of problem URL's will be listed at the bottom of the page. You can correct your links and resubmit the pages that include them. To access the link checker, click on "Launch Link Checker" on the main page.

To help visitors to easily locate state and local resources, agencies are asked to include an icon to their state's home page. Below are the instructions:

  • Log in to your state access page:
  • Click on Edit/View Home Page Content
  • Click on Page Wizard
  • Click the Source button on the top left hand side of the editor
  • Locate the text [Learn more about the assistance available in your state by clicking <a href="actPage.cfm?stateID=XX&isMain=0&pageID=18">here</a>.<br /><br />]
  • Replace the above text with this exact code string: [Your state has many programs and resources to help you plan and pay for college.<br>Click here to learn more <a href="/StateResources/actPage.cfm?stateID=REPLACESTATEID&isMain=0&pageID=18"><img src="" alt="Learn More!" border="0" align="texttop"></a><br><br>]
  • Click the Source button again to verify you can see the logo and text
  • Click Submit For Approval

Update: 9/8/06

To ensure that visitors remain on the site after they have clicked on a link, all links on the site should open into a new window. Below are the instructions:

  • <a href="COMPLETEURL" target="_blank">LINK NAME</a>

The Mapping Your Future sponsor site requires a generic user name and password to get in. Below are the full access instructions:

  1. Enter the user name: myf
  2. Enter the password: MYF10years
  3. Click the Login button
  4. Click on "Request access" under "College Access" on the right-hand side of the page
    Complete the form and submit it
  5. After you submit the form, the MYF staff will activate your account; you will receive an e-mail notification with your user name when this is complete
  6. Note: Only one representative per guarantor can request access
