Legislative Priorities for the 115th Congress
|Federal Policy and Advocacy|
NCHER works vigorously to improve legislation and regulations and to strengthen all federal student loan and higher education financing programs through its ongoing involvement—on behalf of its members—with Congress, the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Treasury, the Federal Communications Commission, and other organizations and associations engaged in higher education financing and policy. NCHER provides members with up-to-date information and analysis on all policies and procedures affecting federal and alternative student loans and education financing in general—including grants, scholarships, tax policy, and 529 College Savings Plans.
NCHER is regularly engaged in advocacy and outreach to achieve our mission: to enhance its member organizations’ abilities to help families and students develop, pay for, and attain their educational goals so they can pursue meaningful and rewarding work and become contributing members of society.
What are we advocating for?
NCHER is in constant contact with Members of Congress, Senators, and their staffs, advocating for policy that is ultimately in the best interest of students and families. NCHER wants to play a role in envisioning what higher education as well as financial aid policy look like for future generations. As reauthorization of the Higher Education Act becomes a reality, NCHER is focused on a variety of areas intended to improve college education access and success.
